WURV/Richmond, VA Helps Students Stock Up For School

School bells will soon be ringing in VIRGINIA, so SUMMIT MEDIA Hot AC WURV (107.3 PLAY)/RICHMOND got the jump on everything with their second annual Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive. 

Morning hosts MELISSA & JACK, with help from VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY alumni, real estate group COSTAR, UPS and donations from countless area residents, helped fill four freight trucks with 14,063 backpacks, each stuffed with school supplies for elementary and middle school students at RICHMOND CITY Public Schools.

PD/morning co-host MELISSA CHASE told ALL ACCESS, "The craziest part was with an hour left in the donation drive we ran out of boxes – that’s how many bags were collected! So we put the call out and a 103.7 listener saved the day and got her company to open up for us after hours to come get moving boxes to finish our event. We are so proud to have such incredibly generous listeners and community members all teaming up together for this massive act of love and kindness for our local students and schools."
