ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON host and "brand personality" ALEX REIMER is leaving the station to join the staff of MASSACHUSETTS State Senator ERIC P. LESSER (D-FIRST HAMPDEN AND HAMPSHIRE) as Director of Communications.
REIMER, a former contributor to FORBES, BOSTON MAGAZINE, SB NATION, and the BOSTON HERALD, announced his move in a post at WEEI's website, writing that "(a)t this stage in my life, I am more apt to live-tweet RACHEL MADDOW than tomorrow night’s RED SOX game. Those of you who are misfortunate enough to follow me on Twitter could’ve already guessed that.... it is weird to leave something you have always wanted to do. I was able to work my dream job; few people are able to say that.... For the last 31 months, I woke up every day and was paid to give my opinions on the topics of the day. That is pretty cool. I hope I appreciated it enough. Farewell for now -- or at least until the next time I enrage you with my leftist propaganda on Twitter. Something tells me you’ll be getting even more of that in the near future."
REIMER's tenure at WEEI included a suspension for criticizing TOM BRADY's daughter and her appearance in BRADY's video series on FACEBOOK. He was among the rotating hosts of the evening shift at WEEI and appeared on the station's now-defunct KIRK AND CALLAHAN morning show.
