CAPITOL NASHVILLE's CARRIE UNDERWOOD and NBC-TV's "Sunday Night Football" (SNF) will reveal an all-new show open on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th before the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS vs. PITTSBURGH STEELERS game. UNDERWOOD, who has voiced the show's opening theme song for seven consecutive years, has invited ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAMER JOAN JETT to make an appearance for the first time in "SNF's" open. JETT's 1988 hit, "I Hate Myself For Loving You," was adapted for the original 2006 "SNF" opening theme, titled "Waiting All Day For Sunday Night."
UNDERWOOD will also be joined by NFL stars, who will be announced on MONDAY (8/26). Another first for the show’s series, the open was filmed inside an NFL stadium at the MERCEDE-BENZ STADIUM in ATLANTA, home to the FALCONS
“I have always been a huge fan of JOAN's, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the 'Sunday Night Football' open,” UNDERWOOD said. “What better way to pay homage to the original 'SNF' opening song than by getting to play with her on prime time’s biggest stage?”
“When CARRIE brought us this idea, we immediately embraced it as a terrific way to evolve the performance, while also celebrating the song we used in our first 10 seasons of 'SNF,'” that show's Executive Producer, FRED GAUDELLI, said. “We were excited when JOAN agreed to join us, and we can’t wait to debut the finished product.”
