iHeart/Dayton Very #DaytonStrong!

No surprise that the iHEARTMEDIA/DAYTON cluster was all over SUNDAY's GEM CITY SHINE event that was attended by an estimated crowd of some 20,000 attendees and hosted by DAVE CHAPPELLE. The day was capped off by a performance by the legendary STEVIE WONDER.

Top 40 WCHD (CHANNEL 999) weekend afternoon host SOL TSONIS did her show live from the festivities, and was certainly feeling the love. TSONIS told ALL ACCESS, “Yesterday was a good day to be a DAYTONIAN, as over 20,000 community members spent the day in our beloved OREGON DISTRICT for GEM CITY SHINE. This historic event for DAYTON was hosted and planned by DAVE CHAPPELLE to honor the nine innocent victims and the families affected in the heartbreaking mass shooting in the OREGON DISTRICT. Yesterday, we as a city reclaimed the OREGON DISTRICT! Thank you to the influential celebrities who used their power for good and for the immense love that was spread like wildfire by the resilient people of DAYTON! We have made history and proved that we are stronger than ever.”

Also broadcasting live from the show was Hot AC WMMX (MIX 107.7) midday personality KIM FARIS, who said, “Three weeks ago on SUNDAY, AUGUST 4th, we were standing on Fifth Street in the OREGON DISTRICT at a candlelight vigil to remember the nine lives lost earlier that day in a mass shooting. This SUNDAY we were standing on Fifth Street celebrating those nine souls we lost with music, love, hope, and peace. GEM CITY SHINE showed the resilience of DAYTONIANS; who have been through a water emergency, hate rally, tornado and mass shooting this year. We are #DaytonStrong!”

iHEART/DAYTON OM JEFF STEVENS said, "So far we’ve raised over $12,000 for the DAYTON FOUNDATION in #DaytonStrong T-shirt  sales too!."
