JIM MCCARTHY, one-third of the team that hosted BOSTON's pioneering sports talk radio show "THE SPORTS HUDDLE," has passed away at 91, according to the QUINCY PATRIOT LEDGER.
MCCARTHY, whose "day job" was in insurance, joined EDDIE ANDELMAN and MARK WITKIN for the irreverent sports show, which began on WUNR-A in 1969 and later aired on WBZ-A, WEEI-A, and WHDH-A; ANDELMAN later continued the show with new co-hosts on WTKK.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in MCCARTHY's name to the MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL Cardiology Dept. or the NORWELL VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION.
