KFOG's Staff Says Goodbye

After 37 years as free-form Triple A and the past couple years as Alternative, CUMULUS officially transitions KFOG/SAN FRANCISCO to an FM simulcast of Sports KNBR-A TODAY, as first reported a couple weeks ago (NET NEWS 8/26). KFOG concluded its final day at midnight (PT) with some vintage time warp programming for "FOGheads" by rebroadcasting vintage specialty programming, including episodes of DAVE MOREY's "10 at 10" and KFOG's "Live From The Archives."

KFOG's final farewell with the current staff was posted WEDNESDAY (9/4) by PD JACENT JACKSON on FACEBOOK:

"This is the final night with this crew at KFOG before the station goes away to become the FM Simulcast for massive sports talker KNBR.

"A couple of things. I have never been prouder of a crew than THIS crew, enjoying process and bringing joy every day. It won’t be a story often told but this station moved rapidly up the radio ranker with 25-54 year olds and we were beating our competitor song for song before the signal sale. 

"The clock ran out on us here, but the time we had together was something special. It is arguably and ironically one my favorite career stories regardless of the ending.

"Huge thanks for the folks at CUMULUS for the opportunity to do great radio. I got an awesome bonus round in this business. Worth it. 

"The people I got to work with were fantastic. TROY, DOUG, MIKE etc. You know who you are. Thank you.

"See the people in this photo? Hire them. You will not regret it!!

"As for me, we’ll see. I feel ready for new adventures, new challenges, new things. I can’t wait to share them with you down the road."
