WHO/Des Moines' Simon Conway Makes Annual 9/11 Flag Tribute Happen, With Help From Listener Volunteers

HEARTMEDIA News-Talk WHO-A/DES MOINES and WMT-A/CEDAR RAPIDS afternoon host  SIMON CONWAY's annual planting of flags representing each of the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack was threatened this year by the city of DES MOINES claiming a lack of enough flags and volunteers, but CONWAY, with the help of listeners and social media, was able to make the tribute happen anyway.

Confronted with the city's claim, CONWAY, determined not to allow anything to stand in the way of the tradition he established with the tenth anniversary of 9/11 upon arriving at WHO, turned to social media and his show to summon listeners to the park to help out, and help out they did, planting the flags in the ground before 5p (CT) TUESDAY.
