After 25 years, WHEELER MEDIA AC WSLQ (Q99)/ROANOKE, VA afternoon personality HELEN POWERS is stepping away from the mic.
Commented POWERS, “This industry has allowed me to live all over the U.S., meet many talented people and serve many charities and communities. But I now have the opportunity to spend time with my husband of 22 years, RON, and we are going to finally live full-time on our sailboat and travel throughout the ATLANTIC and beyond. I would like to thank ROB KELLEY BRENNAN, SAGA's ED CHRISTIAN and STEVE GOLDSTEIN for giving me my start so many years ago.”
HELEN’s radio stops include WIXY/CHAMPAIGN, IL, WLZR (now WHGQ)/MilWAUKEE, WI, KBER/SALT LAKE CITY, WWWV and WZGN/CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA and WYYD and WSLQ/ROANOKE, VA.
POWERS is leaving her current position of afternoons on WSLQ and Promotions Director of WSLQ, WLNI and WFIR. This leaves a prime opportunity open.
Added POWERS, “I am the luckiest person in this business to have worked for WHEELER MEDIA President and owner LEONARD WHEELER, and my replacement will be walking into a company that is so rare in this business now. You will have all the tools and staff you need to be a success with listeners and clients.”
HELEN’s last day on the air is FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27th.
