Cars Lead Singer Ric Ocasek Is Dead At Age 75

Groundbreaking rocker and ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAMER RIC OCASEK, who was the lead singer of THE CARS, passed on at the age of 75 today (9/15) in NEW YORK CITY.
OCASEK and THE CARS were inducted into the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2018. Together they created 13 Top 40 singles, including radio staples like "Shake It Up," "Let's Go" and "Just What I Needed."
In 1984, the band won MTV’s “Video of the Year” award for "You Might Think" a Top 10 song off their 5th album, Heartbeat City. After the band broke up in the late '80s, OCASEK focused on his successful producing career.
OCASEK's estranged wife, super model PAULINA PORIZKOVA, found him unconscious and unresponsive today at his GRAMERCY PARK apartment. Sources indicate he appeared to have died from natural causes. PORIZKOVA met OCASEK in 1984, when she appeared the the video for their Top 5 Pop hit "Drive." They married in AUGUST 1989 and separated in 2017.
