LOCAL MEDIA SAN DIEGO Alternative XTRA-F (91X)/SAN DIEGO's announces its "INSPIRED BY MUSIC" concert series program has raised a cumulative donation of $16,359 to the SAN DIEGO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION. The INSPIRED BY MUSIC program began in 2018 with a 91X partnership with BELLY UP ENTERTAINMENT and SDCOOE with a donation of $1 of every ticket sold to “INSPIRED BY MUSIC” concerts held at the MUSIC BOX in downtown SAN DIEGO. Local craft brewer GREEN FLASH BREWING COMPANY joined the program this year, and pledged to match the $1 per ticket donation for all 2019 INSPIRED BY MUSIC shows, as well as additional funds from events at their MIRA MESA facility. ANGELS & AIRWAVES and LOCAL NATIVES kicked in additional dollars from ticket sales from their recent concerts to the IBM Grant Fund.
“To say we’re thrilled is an understatement,” said 91X PD GARETT MICHAELS. “This wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of GREEN FLASH BREWING COMPANY and their matching donation, collaborative support from the team at THE BELLY UP and MUSIC BOX, the artists and bands who have stepped up to perform, and, of course, all the SAN DIEGO music fans for coming out to the shows and supporting a great cause.”
“Music is a powerful tool to help students become innovative, creative, and critical thinkers," added said MUSIC WATSON, Chief Of Staff for SAN DIEGO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION. "INSPIRED BY MUSIC grants will help teachers of all subjects have access to much-needed funds to use music to teach children. We’re thankful to 91X, the MUSIC BOX, BELLY UP ENTERTAINMENT, and GREEN FLASH BREWING COMPANY for supporting SAN DIEGO COUNTY’s 22,000 teachers and 500,000 students.”
Meanwhile, 91X announced TODAY the final three 2019 INSPIRED BY MUSIC CONCERTS at the MUSIC BOX will be BADFLOWER on OCTOBER 14th, MEG MYERS on NOVEMBER 20th, and THE SHELTERS on DECEMBER 11th. Find more info here.
