The UNDERWATER SUNSHINE FEST will host its third installment on NOVEMBER 8th and 9th in all three rooms of ROCKWOOD MUSIC HALL on the Lower East Side of MANHATTAN, NY. The first round of performing artists just announced include STEW & THE NEGRO PROBLEM, WILD PINK, MIKAELA DAVIS & SOUTHERN STAR, MARIA TAYLOR and MARCY PLAYGROUND will be returning to the stage while DAVID KEENAN, THE SUITCASE JUNKET, BLACKILLAC, WINTERSLEEP, THE HUNTS, CINJUN TATE (formerly REMY ZERO) and SEAN NELSON (formerly HARVEY DANGER) join the lineup for the first time, along with many others.
In APRIL 2012, COUNTING CROWS released the album “UNDERWATER SUNSHINE,” a homage to brilliant songwriting and a heartfelt dedication to the music that influenced ADAM DURITZ and the band. Curated and produced by ADAM DURITZ and BARBARA GARRETT, UNDERWATER SUNSHINE FEST is a tapestry of artistry that invites the attendees to go through their own journey of discovery - to curate and craft their own perfect experience, and hopefully find their next favorite band or artist or song.
DURITZ said "At any time in history, there’s just always a ton of great music being written and recorded and, sadly, most of it gets overlooked. When JAMES (CAMPION) and I first started the UNDERWATER SUNSHINE PODCAST, it seemed only natural to focus a fair amount on the wealth of brilliant music that wasn’t getting enough attention as far as we were concerned. When the group of us decided to start the festival after that and they all told me they wanted to name it after the podcast and our album, it just felt right. They're all just a bunch of different ways we're trying to shine a little light on some things that quite honestly deserve their place in the sun."
