To no one's surprise, EDDIE MONEY's death prompted an outpouring of affection for the beloved (especially by rock radio promotion execs) cop-turned-rocker, which was measured in huge increases in radio airplay, streaming and song sales, according to the latest figures from BUZZANGLE MUSIC.
MONEY’s songs were played on the radio 2,349 times on SEPTEMBER 13th, according to MEDIABASE data. As a comparison, MONEY songs have consistently been played on the radio 4,000 times weekly in aggregate for the past two years-plus.
“Take Me Home Tonight” was the most played song on the radio on SEPTEMBER 15th with 662 spins and “Two Tickets to Paradise” followed with 474 spins at radio.
Since 2014, songs from his catalog have been spun at radio over one million times in the U.S
The day MONEY passed away, his songs were streamed 3.9 million times, which was an increase of 1,786%. There were seven million total streams (audio/video) of his songs from SEPTEMBER 13th thru 16th.
Prior to this week, total streams for MONEY's songs have never been higher than 2.5 million in any given week. 58% of all his songs streamed on SEPTEMBER 13th were audio streams and 42% were video streams. “Two Tickets to Paradise” was the most streamed song in his catalog with more than 646,000 total streams on the day of his passing (SEPTEMBER 13th)) and more than 1.2 million streams from SEPTEMBER 13th through 16th. The most downloaded song by MONEY on SEPTEMBER 13th was “Two Tickets to Paradise” with 4,500 sales, up 13,000%. That same song has been downloaded over 8,000 times from the 13th through 16th.
Prior to his passing, “Two Tickets To Paradise” had a total of 9,400 song sales in 2019.
