LEIGHTON ENTERPRISES, INC. is buying News-Talk KXRA-A-K262AT Classic Rock KXRA-F (KX92), and Hot AC KXRZ (Z99)/ALEXANDRIA, MN and K289CL/GLENWOOD, MN from PARADIS BROADCASTING OF ALEXANDRIA, INC. for an undisclosed price. The deal is not appearing in the FCC database as of MONDAY morning (9/23).
“Expanding to ALEXANDRIA is a natural fit for us with our stations in ST. CLOUD, FERGUS FALLS, PERHAM, and DETROIT LAKES,” said LEIGHTON ENTERPRISES CEO BOB LEIGHTON, who added that the current staff and GM/PARADIS BROADCASTING President BRETT PARADIS will remain on board, saying, “We are excited to expand to ALEXANDRIA and BRETT PARADIS joining our team. His knowledge, experience in the industry, and commitment to serve the local community will be an asset to our company. We look forward to BRETT helping LEIGHTON BROADCASTING’s continued growth.”

In another deal yet to appear in the FCC database, a local group is purchasing KMA BROADCASTING, L.P. , licensee of KMA-A/SHENANDOAH, IA, from ED MAY JR. for an undisclosed price, reports the COUNCIL BLUFFS DAILY NONPARIEL. The new ownership includes JAKE and PAM MCGARGILL, JAMES and MELONIE DOYLE, BILL and PAM DITMARS, GREGG CONNELL, NANCY MAHER, and JUDITH WISCHIK.
As for deals that did show up at the FCC MONDAY, TBLC GREENVILLE STATIONS, LLC is selling Regional Mexican WTOB-F (ACTIVA 103.9)/EASLEY-GREENVILLE, NC to RADIO TRAINING NETWORK, INC. for $850,000.
DAVIS MEDIA, LLC is selling Country WUDE (106.3 THE DUDE)/BOLIVIA, NC to COLONIAL RADIO GROUP, INC. for $230,000.
IDAHO COMMUNITY ACTION NETWORK is selling noncommercial Spanish Variety KBWE/BURLEY, ID to TU VOZ, INC. for $15,000.
CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF GUERNEVILLE is transferring KGGV-LP/GUERNEVILLE, CA to MULTI MEDIA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION for no consideration.
Applying for STAs were SHANKS BROADCASTING LLC (WWKM/ROCHELLE, GA, reduced power on temporary tower while licensed tower is replaced); FAMILY STATIONS, INC. (KFRD/BUTTE, MT, reduced power due to failure of transmitter power modules); and WENNES COMMUNICATIONS STATIONS, INC. (KMRV-A/WAUKON, IA, emergency wire antenna at temporary site after lease expiration).
Filing for Silent STAs were PENFOLD COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (K260BP/IRVING, TX, transmitter issues; K248BC/DALLAS, theft of equipment); GREATER BLESSED ASSURANCE APOSTOLIC TEMPLE, INC. (WSVJ-LP/TITUSVILLE, FL, issues with landlord requiring police to help retrieve equipment, relocation planned); DIVINE WORD COMMUNICATIONS (W237BE/BREWTON, AL, pending sale); and ELOHIM GROUP CORPORATION (K292GN/SAN BERNARDINO, CA, working with FAA to eliminate interference problems).
A two-step transaction under the supervision of U.S. Bankruptcy Court has closed, with RP BROADCASTING IDAHO LS, LLC transferring its stations in the JACKSON, WY and SUN VALLEY, ID markets to sister company RP BROADCASTING IDAHO, LLC, which in turn sold the SUN VALLEY stations to MAGIC VALLEY MEDIA, LLC for $475,000. The SUN VALLEY cluster going to MAGIC VALLEY includes Classic Rock KECH-F, Triple A KSKI-F (94.5 K-SKI), and Hot AC KYZK (STAR 107.5)/SUN VALLEY, ID, News-Talk KOUW (KID NEWSRADIO)/ISLAND PARK, ID, and K276DW/KETCHUM, ID. The JACKSON cluster, remaining with RP, under the court's supervision, includes Country KJAX, Triple A KMTN (96.9 THE MOUNTAIN), Classic Rock KZJH (KZ95), and News-Talk KSGT-A-K242BU/JACKSON and K265DA/TETON VILLAGE, WY. K239AU and K281BH/DRIGGS, ID also remain with RP.
And AGAPE WORLD CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES AND TRAINING CENTER, INC. has closed on the transfer of WCKP-LP/OCALA, FL to MUSICAL PERFORMANCE GROUP OF OCALA, INC. for $800.
