The ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) has named MERCURY NASHVILLE's CHRIS STAPLETON as its ACM Artist-Songwriter Of The Decade. Chosen by the ACM Board of Directors and the ACM Special Awards Committee, the award recognizes a songwriter whose body of work and performances have impacted Country music over the decade. STAPLETON recently received the award during a surprise presentation at BERRY HILL STUDIO near NASHVILLE.
“Had CHRIS STAPLETON not been an artist, his impact on Country music as a songwriter would be indelible,” said ACM Special Awards Committee Co-Chair KELLY RICH. “Had he not been a songwriter for himself and others, his influence as a recording artist, performer and vocalist would have been just as undeniable. In combination, however, CHRIS epitomizes the spirit and intent of this award. We are thrilled to recognize both aspects of his contribution to Country music over the last decade."
STAPLETON is the third recipient of the new ACM Decade Award categories announced earlier this month (NET NEWS 9/4). Find more information on the ACM AWARDS here.
