Former SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE writer/performer, U.S. Senator, and AIR AMERICA RADIO host AL FRANKEN will host a new weekly show for SIRIUSXM PROGRESS, beginning SATURDAY (9/25), reports AP.
FRANKEN, who resigned from the Senate in 2017 after accusations of sexual misconduct surfaced, will host a weekly hour-long interview show for the satellite service, airing SATURDAYS 10-11a (ET). Guests scheduled so far include CHRIS ROCK, PATTON OSWALT, and former Senate Majority Leader HARRY REID.
“I’m excited to be back on SIRIUSXM, which carried my Air America show back in the day” said FRANKEN in a press release. “Listeners can expect a mix of guests from my comedian friends like CHRIS ROCK, to my political pals like former Senate Majority Leader HARRY REID, to policy experts on the issues in play in 2020. When I’m interviewing Harry or former Energy Secretary ERNEST MONIZ, I’ll be the funny one. When I interview Rock or PATTON OSWALT, I’ll be the one who served eight-and-a-half years in the Senate.”
“AL FRANKEN is an important and influential progressive voice, whom many have missed. SIRIUSXM is the perfect platform for him to re-enter the public conversation,” said SIRIUSXM SVP of News, Talk, and Entertainment Programming MEGAN LIBERMAN .
FRANKEN will also be part of the SIRIUSM PROGRESS team covering the 2020 elections and will make appearances on various shows on the channel.
