The NEW YORK POST is reporting that the NHL's NEW YORK ISLANDERS will be heard on ESPN Sports WEPN-A (ESPN NEW YORK 1050AM)/NEW YORK for the next two years, with some games on sister Sports WEPN-F (ESPN NEW YORK 98.7FM). A minimum of 60 games will mostly air on the AM due to conflicts with NEW YORK RANGERS hockey and NEW YORK KNICKS basketball on the FM. CHRIS KING will continue as play-by-play voice of the ISLANDERS.
The ISLANDERS have for several seasons been heard on HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY Variety WRHU/HEMPSTEAD, NY, with last season's games also heard on RADIO.COM via a deal with ENTERCOM Sports WFAN-A-F. NEWSDAY reports that WRHU will continue to air all games, and JVC MEDIA News-Talk WRCN (LI NEWS RADIO)/RIVERHEAD will continue as a network affiliate.
WEPN-A recently began airing the FM's programming and national ESPN RADIO shows along with brokered Spanish programming left over from its years as the NEW YORK affiliate of now-defunct ESPN DEPORTES RADIO.
