DEF JAM RECORDINGS continues its ongoing celebration of 35 years of heritage and cultural impact with a homecoming performance tonight by DMX at the DEF JAM 35 Night Market in BROOKLYN, NY.
Last night’s performance from DMX was the latest salvo in the year-long DEF JAM 35 celebration that includes the co-curated HIP-HOP CLASSICS DEF JAM playlist via SPOTIFY, the revival of the original signature DEF JAM “varsity” jacket and capsule collection via KITH, the forthcoming TONY TOUCH mixtape documentary feature, an experiential activation at COMPLEXCON LONG BEACH and more.
Last night's BROOKLYN NIGHT MARKET event featured an all-female DJ lineup (NYLA SYMONE, ODALYS and DJ JAZZY JOYCE) and Live Art by KEO. A special pop-up from SCARR's PIZZA will feed the masses, COURVOISIER and HEINEKEN will keep the spirits flowing, and VIPs will enjoy special activations from PUMA and SNIPES.
LL COOL J (whose “I Need a Beat” was the first record with a DEF JAM catalog number in 1984, and who spent the next quarter-century at the label) graces the cover of the multi-artist compilation.
