Two Michigan Clusters Get New Owners

JACKSON RADIO WORKS, INC. is selling Country WIBM-A-W240DG (95.9 THE POWER COW), News-Talk WKHM-A-W268CA, and Sports WKHM-F-HD2-W270CJ (ESPN 101.9)/JACKSON, MI and Top 40 WKHM-F (K105.3)/BROOKLYN, MI to JAMIE MCKIBBIN's MCKIBBIN MEDIA GROUP, INC. for $3.8 million ($25,000 down, $3.275 million in cash at closing, $500,000 in a promissory note) plus $400,000 for real estate and $100,000 for towers.
In a deal yet to be filed with the FCC, SOVEREIGN COMMUNICATIONS, LLC is selling eight MICHIGAN UPPER PENINSULA stations to TERRY SHOCKLEY and CHRIS BERNIER's AMC PARTNERS ESCANABA, LLC for an undisclosed price. The stations include Classic Rock WUPK (94 ROCK)/MARQUETTE, MI; Country WJPD (BIG COUNTRY 92.3 WJPD)/ISHPEMING-MARQUETTE, MI; Oldies WNGE (OLDIES 99.5)/NEGAUNEE-MARQUETTE, MI; News-Talk WDMJ-A/MARQUETTE-WIAN-A/ISHPEMING, MI; Classic Rock WIMK (93 ROCK) and News-Talk WMIQ-A (TALK 1450)/IRON MOUNTAIN, MI; and Hot AC WZNL (STAR 94.3)/NORWAY-IRON MOUNTAIN, MI. KALIL AND CO. served as broker for the deal.
In other filings with the FCC, applying for Silent STAs were THE MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO (K208EF/MISSOULA, MT, "the input source for the translator has gone silent") and NORFOLK COMMUNITY RADIO (WIGK-LP/NORFOLK, VA, equipment failure).
Filing for extensions of Silent STAs were L.C. ORRICK OUTREACH, INC. (KQLC/SEALY, TX, STL failure); AZTEC CAPITAL PARTNERS, INC. (WNWR-A/PHILADELPHIA, working on transmitter move); CREATIVE FRESNO (KCFZ-LP/FRESNO, negotiating new site lease); and TOOL SHED PDX (KXYQ-LP/PORTLAND, OR, "needs a little more time to work with the other broadcasters on the tower to finish combining effort").
And JULIA N. MOON and JERRY MOON have closed on the sale of J AND J COMMUNICATIONS, licensee of Country KNES (TEXAS 99)/FAIRFIELD, TX, to MICHELLE and JAMES WATTERSON's LAZY BOTTOM HOLDINGS, LLC for $500,000.
In addition, the FCC has denied a waiver request from RESULTS BROADCASTING RHINELANDER, INC. for the final payment deadline for winning bids in FM Auction 94 and has dismissed the company's winning bids for FM construction permits in TOMAHAWK and CRANDON, WI totaling $35,000.
The FCC has also issued a Notice of Violation to CHINESE SOUND OF ORIENTAL AND WEST HERITAGE, licensee of low power FM KQEV-LP/COVINA, CA, for failure to have an EAS log on site and for its antenna being mounted at the wrong height.
And the Commission sent a Notice of Unlicensed Operation to CHARLES MICHAEL GOODWIN for allegedly operating a pirate FM on 88.7 in LAKE WORTH, FL.
