NEW YORK Supreme Court Judge FRANK NERVO has issued a temporary restraining order against PACIFICA FOUNDATION that will at least for now restore local programming at noncommercial Variety WBAI/NEW YORK and reverse the staff firings announced on MONDAY (NET NEWS 10/7).
The TRO was issued after WBAI Local Board Chair CAROLYN MCGUIRE, producers ARTHUR SCHAWRTZ and MIMI ROSENBERG, contributor HARVEY EPSTEIN, and PACIFICA board members JAMES SAUGURTON and ALEX STEINBERG filed a petition in court against the foundation seeking the order. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for OCTOBER 18th.
A meeting of local WBAI producers has been scheduled for TONIGHT and a local station board meeting, open to the public, will take place on WEDNESDAY.
We're happy to announce that @WBAI has gotten an injunction to stay the takeover of the station by @RadioPacifica. All programming will resume and the next court date is October 18th.
