It's a stunt pulled by countless radio personalities over the decades, and it's happening again at CUMULUS Sports WNML-A-F/KNOXVILLE, where morning "THE STARTING LINEUP" co-host TYLER IVENS is "living on the roof" of a client's building until the 1-4 UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE football team (0-2 in the SEC) wins another game.
Crosstown CBS affiliate WVLT-TV reports that IVENS is vowing to remain camped out on the roof of TOYOTA KNOXVILLE until the beleaguered VOLUNTEERS get back in the win column. IVENS told the TV station that he took the idea from "a national sports radio host who went on a billboard when (the VOLS) were having a rough season with JOHNNY MAJORS" in the late 1980s and is confident in the current squad's ability to win ("Who in their right mind would come up here if they didn't believe they could win?").
IVENS is on the car dealership's roof in a tent with an air mattress, broadcasting from that location until the VOLS put an end to the stunt with a victory.
