A full house of music and media industry heavyweights attended a wonderful evening (10/10) to honor one of the most storied and highly regarded executives in the music industry, EPIC RECORDS Chairman/CEO SYLVIA RHONE, with the CITY OF HOPE "SPIRIT OF LIFE AWARD" at a gala held at BARKER HANGER in SANTA MONICA.
RHONE is the first black woman ever to receive this prestigious award which was presented to her by former Attorney General ERIC HOLDER, who served under President BARACK OBAMA from 2009-2015. Entertainment was provided by YOLANDA ADAMS, followed by a duet with ALICIA KEYES and SARA BAREILLES.
In accepting the "SPIRIT OF LIFE AWARD", RHONE said, "Don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone. Pursue your dreams with all the passion you can. The door is open. The question is what are you going to do to leave your mark, and what are you going to give back?"
During her long and highly successful career, RHONE has held top level executive posts at VESTED IN CULTURE, UNIVERSAL MOTOWN, ELEKTRA ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, and ATLANTIC RECORDS.
