Former Rep. LOUIS FREY, JR. (R-FL), who followed his 10 year Congressional career with a stint as co-host with another former Congressman of a show on noncommercial WMFE/ORLANDO, died MONDAY in WINTER SPRINGS, FL at 83. The ORLANDO SENTINEL reports that FREY had been suffering with dementia.
FREY, who served in Congress in 1968-78 and lost runs for FLORIDA Governor and the Senate before settling into law practice as a partner at LOWNDES, DROSDICK, DOSTER, KANTOR & REED in ORLANDO, paired with former Rep. DICK BATCHELOR (D-FL) to host shows and segments, first on PBS affiliate WMFE-TV/ORLANDO in 1996, then with "THE NOTEBOOK" on WMFE in 1998, continuing with a regular segment on WMFE's "INTERSECTION" in 2007-16. He also founded the LOU FREY INSTITUTE OF POLITICS AND GOVERNMENT at the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA.
