Tennessee Sportscaster Faces Child Sexual Abuse Charge

CROSSROADS BROADCASTING/LEXINGTON BROADCASTING SERVICE Sports WBFG (ESPN 96.5)/PARKER'S CROSSROADS-LEXINGTON, TN Advertising and Sports Director KERRY MALLARD has been charged with "continuous sexual abuse of a minor," according to a report in the JACKSON (TN) SUN.
MALLARD was arrested on THURSDAY afternoon by the HENDERSON COUNTY Sheriff's Office; the SUN adds that MALLARD's day care business is also being investigated, and that MALLARD, who also called LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL football on sister Country WZLT (HOT COUNTRY Z99.3)/LEXINGTON, TN, has been fired. He was released on $75,000 bond and will be arraigned on TUESDAY (10/22).
Court documents include accusations that MALLARD, 53, told a 4-to-5-year-old girl to touch his genitals on multiple occasions and told her not to tell anyone. The filing also says that MALLARD admitted to allowing the girl to touch him once this AUGUST.
