iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WHO-A/DES MOINES afternoon host SIMON CONWAY's sixth annual BBQ sandwich giveaway to benefit the PUPPY JAKE FOUNDATION was held FRIDAY (10/18),

CONWAY's annual sandwich giveaway raised a record of over $40,000 in two hours for the foundation, the charity that acquires, raises and professionally trains service dogs for veterans. The fundraiser raised $4,000 six years ago, then $6,000 the next year, $23,000 in 2016, $29,000 in 2017, and over $31,000 in two hours in 2018. The meat was donated by a local supermarket and the meat was grilled by a barbecue grilling champion who also donated buns and sauce.

"I have the best audience in talk radio. They are astonishing! I also have to thank some of my show's sponsors who have taken this charity to their hearts," said CONWAY, adding, "We had our newest recruits there, 8-week old puppies AVA and ROCKY, the original PUPPY JAKE as well as my own Chocolate Lab, REAGAN. We also had veterans who have had their lives changed by these dogs. Truly amazing.”
