Following the OCTOBER 17th death of radio legend BOB KINGSLEY (NET NEWS 10/17), two superstar artists are stepping in to host his weekly show, “BOB KINGSLEY’s Country Top 40.” KEITH URBAN will be at the microphone this weekend (OCTOBER 26-27) for a special edition of the show. And GARTH BROOKS will guest host the last four episodes of the year in KINGSLEY’s honor. The first episode recorded since KINGSLEY’s passing, this weekend’s URBAN-hosted show will feature stories from the singer’s visit to KINGSLEY’s ranch in WEATHERFORD, TX, as well as exclusive acoustic performances of songs with special meaning to the late broadcaster.
KINGSLEY’s KCCS PRODUCTIONS will continue producing the WESTWOOD ONE-distributed show for its 320 affiliates worldwide, with guest artists continuing to sit in KINGSLEY’s chair. Plans for 2020 and beyond will be announced at a later date.
As previously reported, a partnership with the COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION will have different female artists hosting the show through THANKSGIVING weekend, with TRISHA YEARWOOD, MARTINA MCBRIDE, SARA EVANS and LITTLE BIG TOWN’S KAREN FAIRCHILD and KIMBERLY SCHLAPMAN all confirmed, with more to be announced. Those shows will also include a spotlight on “female artists of the future,” including ASHLEY MCBRYDE, CARLY PEARCE and INGRID ANDRESS.
Additionally, the compilation special “25 Years Of BOB KINGSLEY’s Christmas In AMERICA” will be available for affiliate clearance in DECEMBER.
With more than 10,000 hours of produced content in the can, KINGSLEY leaves behind the largest audio library in Country music history.
