Last night (10/22) at the GRAND OLE OPRY, LUKE BRYAN was surprised by staff from the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM), who presented him with their inaugural “Album of the Decade” award for his quadruple Platinum 2013 set, “Crash My Party.” BRYAN was on hand at the OPRY to perform and flip the switch on the set to turn the OPRY pink for its 11th annual “OPRY Goes Pink” breast cancer awareness campaign.
In addition to BRYAN, the album award also goes to album producer JEFF STEVENS and label CAPITOL RECORDS NASHVILLE. Watch BRYAN get surprised onstage here.
“‘Crash My Party’ was such a life-changing album for us,” shared BRYAN from the OPRY stage. “We didn’t know it at the time, we were just loving making music for you guys. It blew my mind the love and support we had from the fans. It’s so fun getting to do this. Thank you to my producer, JEFF, and my record label and management for sharing this experience with me tonight!”
“I’ve worked with LUKE for many, many years and have seen firsthand his passion, endless energy and live performances,” said ACM interim Executive Dir. RAC CLARK, who presented the superstar with the award. “The ‘Crash My Party’ album captured his vision and excitement with songs that you can’t get out of your head. We are honored to acknowledge LUKE and his team’s accomplishments and career success over the past decade.”
The ACM “Album of the Decade Award” recognizes an album that has impacted Country music over the decade, based on the success at radio of singles released from album, album concept, commercial media, sales and streaming, artistic merit and ACM Award recognition. The award was the final one bestowed as part of the ACM’s seven new ACM Decade Award categories (NET NEWS 9/4).
