The latest listener campaign to "save" a Talk radio station's format is targeted at a station that hasn't exactly changed format, ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON, where SAVEWRKO.COM has been established by conservative listeners unhappy with the station's recent courtship of Democratic Party insider and now convicted felon TOM FINNERAN to host mornings. The site was established by conservative bloggers MATT and AARON MARGOLIS with the support of RADIO EQUALIZER blogger and occasional WRKO fill-in host BRIAN MALONEY.
Postings on the site are criticizing the station's move to "fluffy, non-controversial programming" and alleging that the station is undergoing an "obvious clampdown on conservative opinions, in addition to an apparent edict against criticism of Governor [DEVAL] PATRICK outside of [afternoon host HOWIE] CARR's program," and refer to "one local executive... attempting to impose her own tastes on an unwilling audience," an apparent reference to Market Manager JULIE KAHN.
