The latest Republican member of Congress to decide not to seek re-election is Rep. GREG WALDEN (R-OR), the former broadcaster who has been one of the industry's leading advocates in the House as Chair, and then Ranking Member, of the HOUSE ENERGY AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE. WALDEN announced MONDAY (10/28) that he will not run for re-election in 2020 and will not run for another public office.
NAB Pres./CEO GORDON SMITH said, “I was lucky to have served with GREG WALDEN in both the OREGON legislature and in CONGRESS, and can honestly say he is one of the finest public servants I’ve ever known. GREG’s career has been defined by success -- as a committed local broadcaster, as a bipartisan political bridge builder, and as a brilliant legislator.
“CONGRESS is a better place because of GREG WALDEN, and I’m certain he will make a positive difference in whatever path his future may hold.”
