MCA NASHVILLE's GEORGE STRAIT received the BOB HOPE Award For Excellence In Entertainment at the MEDAL OF HONOR CONVENTION's PATRIOT AWARD GALA, held last FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th in TAMPA, FL. The award honors performers who have displayed a commitment to the U.S. military through film, literature or music.
Additionally, STRAIT recognized National First Responders Day yesterday (10/28) by hosting a fundraiser on his FACEBOOK page encouraging fans to make donations to The 100 Club Of San Antonio, which assists the families of fallen first responders. The campaign was tied into STRAIT's current single, "The Weight Of The Badge."
STRAIT's ninth annual Vaqueros del Mar golf tournament and benefit concert, which took place OCTOBER 20-23 in BOERNE, TX, raised a record-setting $2.2 million for the Feherty's Troops First Foundation, which benefits wounded military service men and women. In addition to STRAIT, the event also featured performances by RAY BENSON & ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, JAMEY JOHNSON, RANDY HOUSER, WADE BOWEN, RANDY ROGERS and more.
