INTEGR8 RESEARCH has released data from a new study of SPOTIFY users' usage habits and behavior, aimed at radio stations to help them use SPOTIFY data to pick new music. The findings, posted as four separate blog entries at Integr8Research.com, include that listeners stream more music overall when big artists release new albums; SPOTIFY usage mimics sales patterns more than airplay patterns; a big debut doesn't necessarily indicate a big hit; and there are times radio is late on a new title hitting at SPOTIFY, but for good reasons.
“From BILLIE EILISH to ‘OLD TOWN ROAD’, 2019 has been a breakout year for artists and songs to blow up first on SPOTIFY”, said INTEGR8 RESEARCH President MATT BAILEY. “That’s left many programmers wondering if the whole pattern of how listeners hear new music is changing and has encouraged many pundits to claim radio is too late to add new music. When you dig into the actual listening behavior, though, SPOTIFY is a lot less mysterious and a lot more familiar than it seems. We’ll show you how to use SPOTIFY data in tandem with new music research to apply it to your programming strategy.”
