The news is full of stories about how the fires are affecting peoples’ lives in almost every way in CALIFORNIA, but the Triple A stations in SONOMA COUNTY have stood up to the challenge and managed to stay on the air to inform and entertain traumatized listeners.
OM/PD ANDRE DE CHENNES at WINE COUNTRY RADIO Triple A KRSH/SANTA ROSA told ALL ACCESS earlier this week, “Four of our station transmitters burned down, but KRSH is still on and broadcasting from an alternate site. Our offices are closed because most of our employees are evacuated from the area. Power is out in most of SONOMA COUNTY still.”
WINEDOWN RADIO Triple A KVYN/SANTA ROSA Dir./Programming NATE CAMPBELL said: “So far we’ve been hanging in, but more wind events on the way could change things quickly.”
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC MEDIA News/Music KRCB/SANTA ROSA PD/OD SEAN KNIGHT let ALL ACCESS know that “KRCB-FM is all safe up here in the fire. We lost our main transmitter at 91.1 to the fire when it hit the hills above GEYSERVILLE at the end of last week. But the staff hasn’t missed a beat, keeping pertinent news on the air with music in between. We still have our 90.9 translator in DOWNTOWN SANTA ROSA that we got an STA to increase its power temporarily; and we have an emergency transmitter and antenna for 91.1 that just went back on the air a few minutes ago.”
