PARLOPHONE/ATLANTIC RECORDS’ Grammy-winning group COLDPLAY is teaming up with YOUTUBE ORIGINALS for the launch of the band’s eighth album, and two-disc set, Everyday Life, with two exclusive livestream performances on the channel NOVEMBER 21st, beginning at 11p ET.
COLDPLAY: Everyday Life – Live In JORDAN will take place in AMMAN, JORDAN and reflect the album’s theme – disc one, Sunrise and disc two, Sunset. The first livestream will begin at sunrise, premiering the new songs on YOUTUBE just before the album is officially released at midnight, NOVEMBER 22nd. The second half of the album with be performed at sunset (9a ET). This will be the band’s first-ever performance in JORDAN and will reflect the middle eastern influences found throughout the album’s music and artwork.
The band enlisted the help of FRED ARMISEN and CARRIE BROWNSTEIN from the IFC series PORTLANDIA to host an unusual and hilarious press conference announcing the events.
COLDPLAY: Everyday Life - Live In JORDAN will weave fans into the event’s build-up and the livestream itself by asking them and the YOUTUBE community to submit videos for use in the broadcast.
A press release from the band read in part, “these two broadcasts have been our dream since we first started work on this album. It’s a bit impossible and a bit scary, like all the best dreams. YOUTUBE is the perfect home for it.”
