Thirty years ago, U.K. Soul singer HEATHER SMALL scored a breakthrough with the BLACK BOX global dance hit, “Ride On Time.” From there, the singer’s worldwide success continued as vocalist with the group M PEOPLE (“Movin’ On Up,” “One Night In Heaven”). In 2000, she released her debut solo album, Proud. The album’s title track became synonymous with the hit SHOWTIME series, Queer As Folk.
This summer, the remix of “Proud” stormed the Club Charts and was adopted as an unofficial anthem of the LGBTQ community across the world. The singer, who has been performing PRIDE events for over a quarter of a century, spent last week in LOS ANGELES, enjoying the city with film producer BRIAN FORTUNA (SMALL’s dance partner on the U.K. version of ‘Dancing With The Stars’) and attending the premieres for STEPHEN KING’s ‘Doctor Sleep’ and exclusive screening of EDWARD NORTON’s ‘Motherless Brooklyn.’ This weekend, she’ll perform at PALM SPRINGS’ annual PRIDE celebration on NOVEMBER 2.
Fans of the singer, who enjoyed numerous U.K. Number 1 albums and won countless BRIT and MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE awards can look forward to a new studio album from SMALL in 2020.
