ALASKA-based public radio host RICHARD NELSON has passed away, according to KTVA (TV)/ANCHORAGE. NELSON, a cultural anthropologist and the host of syndicated public radio show "ENCOUNTERS," died NOVEMBER 4th in SAN FRANCISCO; he was 77.
NELSON's show focused on natural sounds of wildlife and nature. He also wrote several books and served as ALASKA's State Writer Laureate in 1999-2001.
