Prolific podcast producer BEN ADAIR's WESTERN SOUND and ACAST STUDIOS are launching a true crime podcast series about the exploits of a bank robber and his efforts to reform.
"THE SCORE: BANK ROBBER DIARIES," the story of bank robber JOE LOYA from a childhood of abuse to prison and subsequent reformation and reinvention as a successful writer, is debuting on NOVEMBER 12th and will post weekly. "THE SCORE" is podcast sales platform ACAST's first venture into producing its own original shows and will continue with new stories in subsequent seasons, with WESTERN SOUND also producing the second season.ADAIR, host of the show whose credits include ESPN's 30 FOR 30 PODCASTS' "THE STERLING AFFAIR," TEAM COCO's "FRONTIER TWEEN" and "SMARTR," WONDERY's "DR. DEATH," and more, said, “I’ve been wanting to bring the engrossing and jaw-dropping story of JOE, his heists and his reformation to listeners for a long time. The true-crime podcast is in something of a golden age right now, but what we and ACAST STUDIOS have pioneered with THE SCORE is a twist to the format by having the criminal himself recount his life of crime. It makes for exceptionally compelling listening, as we’re finally able to hear the side of events that’s often left unheard.”
ACAST SVP of Content SUSIE WARHURST said: “Given BEN’s track record of producing some of podcasting’s biggest hits, working with him for our first original show launch from ACAST STUDIOS was an easy decision, not least because of the gripping story and unprecedented production style of BANK ROBBER DIARIES.”
