An attempt by NEW ORLEANS police to get a warrant to arrest former ENTERCOM News-Talk WWL-A-F/NEW ORLEANS evening sports host SETH DUNLAP on extortion charges was rejected last week by a judge, reports the NEW ORLEANS TIMES-PICAYUNE/ADVOCATE.
The police officer brought evidence he said showed that DUNLAP, who was recently fired after taking leave over the controversy about a homophobic tweet on the station's TWITTER account that the station contended he may have sent himself (NET NEWS 11/4), demanded $1.8 million to settle his complaints about WWL's hostile work environment, but the warrant request was rebuffed by Magistrate Commissioner ROBERT BLACKBURN, who said the evidence did not support a felony extortion charge. The police can appeal the decision by presenting more evidence, or can try for an arrest warrant on other charges.
