COX MEDIA GROUP Country KKBQ (THE NEW 93Q)/HOUSTON morning host KEVIN KLINE will be attempting a 300-mile run in ALASKA’s dangerous ARCTIC CIRCLE to raise money for pediatric cancer patients at TEXAS CHILDREN’s HOSPITAL via his non-profit, THE SNOWDROP FOUNDATION. His run begins on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16th, and KLINE will be carrying with him a seven-pound backpack full of names and photos of 1,750 pediatric cancer patients.
KLINE is attempting to become the first recorded person in history to run the northernmost 300 miles of the DALTON HIGHWAY in winter. He is scheduled to complete his run on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24th.
“Words can’t describe how proud I am of KEVIN and the endeavor he’s undertaking.” said JOHNNY CHIANG, Dir./Operations for COX/HOUSTON. “This is beyond doing good in your community, which we as broadcasters have pledged to do. This is humanity at its best.”
“This run mirrors the hardships of isolation and hostility that childhood cancer patients face,” explained KLINE. “To have my family at COX MEDIA GROUP back this run through donations and ongoing marketing support shows how committed it is to its employees and the community.”
To date, KLINE has run MORE THAN 175 marathons and ultra-marathons, and raised more than $1.8 million for TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL’s pediatric patients and cancer research.
