ONE PUTT BROADCASTING Alternative KFRR (NEW ROCK 104.1)/FRESNO's MORNING AFTER WITH SKIPPY is set to end next FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd as longtime morning host FRANCES ECHEVERRIA (a.k.a. SKIPPY) has decided to start sleeping in after nearly two decades in FRESNO. SKIPPY joined NEW ROCK 104.1 in DECEMBER 2010 and later added co-host DREW HYATT. SKIPPY previously spent a decade cross-town at then-CLEAR CHANNEL Active Rock KRZR from 2001-2010.
SKIPPY said, “I started with a toddler and an infant during grad school at FRESNO STATE. It was kind of an experiment. I loved getting up before sunrise, but now with a house full of tweens and teens, and a career as a mental health professional, I’m ready to trade the mic for a couch.” She added, “I’ve had one great ride, but it’s time to concentrate on what’s most important.”
“I was surprised, but not surprised when she shared her plans,” said JOHN OSTLUND partner of ONE PUTT BROADCASTING. "I can’t imagine getting up at 4am for two decades to entertain tens of thousands of listeners without skipping a beat. She deserves a medal!”
SKIPPY made the announcement on-air this morning and all next week will be dedicated to listener call-in’s and guest appearances by community leaders.
The plan to replace SKIPPY on NEW ROCK 104.1 is a closely guarded secret, but the rumor of RAY APPLETON filling-in was quickly denied by ONE PUTT partner, CHRIS PACHECO. “We couldn’t afford the insurance on his limo,” he joked.
