JVC BROADCASTING's five LONG ISLAND radio stations co-sponsored the BROOKHAVEN INTERFACE annual "Food Fight Against Hunger" food drive, earning an in-person donation and thanks from BROOKHAVEN Town Supervisor ED ROMAINE.
The stations -- News-Talk WRCN (LI NEWS RADIO)/RIVERHEAD, Tropical WBON (LA FIESTA 98.5)/WESTHAMPTON, Dance/Rhythmic WPTY (PARTY 105.3)/CALVERTON-ROANOKE, Oldies WPTY-HD2-W251BY (OLDIES 98)/PATCHOGUE, and Country WJVC (MY COUNTRY 96.1)/CENTER MORICHES -- competed to see which station would collect the most food. The total for the two-day event at the SHOP-RITE in PATCHOGUE was over 7,400 pounds of food, including 626 pounds of turkey, $620 in supermarket gift cards, and $572 in cash.
ROMAINE said, “The success of the INTERFACE Food Drive shows just how generous BROOKHAVEN residents are. Thanks to JVC BROADCASTING and our INTERFACE program staff and volunteers, needy families across BROOKHAVEN will enjoy a THANKSGIVING meal in the true spirit of the holiday season.”
