BEASLEY Rock WMMR/PHILADELPHIA's annual "PRESTON & STEVE'S CAMP OUT FOR HUNGER" brought in a record 2.6 million pounds of food and $200,000 in donations for hunger relief organization PHILABUNDANCE. PRESTON ELLIOT and STEVE MORRISON camped out DECEMBER 2-6 in the parking lot at the PHILADELPHIA SPORTS COMPLEX's XFINITY LIVE!, adjacent to WELLS FARGO CENTER (home of the 76ERS and FLYERS) and across the street from the PHILLIES' CITIZENS BANK PARK and the EAGLES' LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD, collecting donations from listeners as they have every holiday season since 1998.
Among the luminaries stopping by were new PHILLIES manager JOE GIRARDI, the FLYERS' JAMES VAN RIEMSDYK, KEVIN HAYES, and JOEL FARRABEE, former EAGLES offensive lineman TODD HERREMANS, Mayor JIM KENNEY, PENNSYLVANIA Attorney General JOSH SHAPIRO, former FLYER left winger RILEY COTE, NBC SPORTS PHILADELPHIA's MICHAEL BARKANN, comic ADAM FERRARA, TV personality and former "DOUBLE DARE" host MARC SUMMERS, and each of the city's "CITY 6" men's basketball coaches.
SUBARU OF AMERICA, the U.S. headquarters of which are across the DELAWARE RIVER in CAMDEN, earned a live PRESTON & STEVE broadcast from the company's offices by making the largest donation from a business, 736,290 pounds of food.
