CUMULUS News-Talk WLS-A/CHICAGO morning host ERICH "MANCOW" MULLER and CUMULUS MEDIA are being sued by a megachurch pastor for defamation, according to ROBERTFEDER.COM.
Former HARVEST BIBLE CHAPEL pastor JAMES MACDONALD, a former friend of MULLER, filed suit in COOK COUNTY Circuit Court alleging that MULLER defamed him as a "con man" and wrote in a piece for the suburban DAILY HERALD that MACDONALD is leading “a culture of authoritarianism, secrecy, intimidation, outlandish fundraising expectations, poor financial controls and debt.” MACDONALD's suit is asking for over $50,000 in damages.
MACDONALD was fired by the church in FEBRUARY; MULLER had played a recording of MACDONALD talking about planting child pornography on a CHRISTIANITY TODAY editor's computer and later accused MACDONALD of trying to hire a hit man to kill a critic, but MACDONALD's suit claims that MULLER's allegations were false and intended to get attention for his shows, and that CUMULUS failed to exercise proper control and oversight over MULLER's show.
