More than 350 broadcasters and celebrities filled NEW YORK CITY's PLAZA HOTEL ballroom, raising over $400,000 to support the mission of the BROADCASTERS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA (BFA), honoring TEGNA INC. President/CEO DAVE LOUGEE with its GOLDEN MIKE AWARD and BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP founder/Chairman GEORGE BEASLEY with its LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. Current BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP CEO CAROLINE BEASLEY, GEORGE's daughter, accepted the award on his behalf.
The annual GOLDEN MIKE AWARD gala is a major fundraiser for the BFA, the only charity devoted exclusively to providing aid to broadcasters in acute need.
This year’s event was hosted by "Inside Edition"’s DEBORAH NORVILLE and featured a rousing performance by GRAMMY-winning BMI songwriter NILE RODGERS and CHIC.
The evening’s presenters were NAB President/CEO GORDON SMITH, SANDER MEDIA founder JACK SANDER and TEGNA EVP and COO Media Operations LYNN BEALL.
