Saga Communications Decides Not To Renew Nielsen Audio Ratings Deal In Any Of Its Markets

SAGA COMMUNICATIONS has decided not to renew its deal with NIELSEN AUDIO for ratings services in any market. Those markets include COLUMBUS OH; MILWAUKEE; NORFOLK; CHARLESTON, SC; DES MOINES; and GAINESVILLE/OCALA, FL.  

SAGA and NIELSEN were at one time embroiled in a copyright violation dispute that was settled (NET NEWS 1/07/15) over the use of NIELSEN AUDIO data in MILWAUKEE-RACINE without a license.

As part of the agreement, SAGA had taken a PPM license for its stations in MILWAUKEE-RACINE, COLUMBUS and NORFOLK at the time. SAGA also licensed diary services in DES MOINES and MANCHESTER, NH at the time.
