ALL ACCESS European Editor ENDA W. CALDWELL checks in to share, "RONAN O’RAHILLY has passed away – a significant Rock n’ Roll figure in the Swingin’ Sixties 'Great British Invasion' revolution. Anyone reading this who has seen the movie 'Pirate Radio' in 2009 will relate to it!
"It is hard to express in a few short words the difference that Pirate Radio had upon the shape of the past 50 years of BBC and Commercial Radio in THE U.K. You already had that established in the USA... here, in THE U.K. and mainland EUROPE, we had to really fight to the bone for it. Just how many legendary artists got their 'first play' on stations like RADIO CAROLINE, and many of the other rebellious pirates at the time from the mid 60s to the early 70s. THE WHO and PINK FLOYD were all thankful to stations like CAROLINE for giving them a chance when they were starting out. Good times, RIP RONAN."
