AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA's APM REPORTS podcast "IN THE DARK" is releasing a special six-episode series looking at the COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS pandemic and its effect on those living in the MISSISSIPPI DELTA. "IN THE DARK: CORONAVIRUS IN THE DELTA" will post episodes beginning APRIL 30th, with a trailer posting TODAY (4/23).
“We heard a lot from Mississippians about new challenges they’re facing and how their lives have changed from COVID-19. We didn’t see that reflected in national news coverage and, as reporters, decided it was our responsibility to tell this story,” said host and lead reporter MADELEINE BARAN. “These are firsthand accounts and real-time experiences that demonstrate the uncertainty unfolding in the DELTA right now and the resilience of the people there.” Season two of the show focused on the case of CURTIS FLOWERS, a MISSISSIPPI man tried six times for murder in a case fraught with racial bias, questionable evidence, and possible prosecutorial misconduct, and released from Death Row by a SUPREME COURT ruling.
