It's been two days since HURRICANE WILMA hit SOUTH FLORIDA and while everyone is alive at CLEAR CHANNEL/W PALM BEACH, operations are far from well.
"Only Oldies WOLL (KOOL 105.5) and N/T/S WJNO-A (1290) are on the air," said WLDI PD CHRIS MARINO. "My station WLDI, N/T/S WBZT-A (1230), WKGR (98.7 THE GATER), and WRLX (CLASSY 92.1) are off the air and have been since MONDAY when the ‘cane hit. WLDI lost it's STL and CLEAR CHANNEL engineers are working feverishly to get all the stations back on the air."
And the damage is widespread to listeners. "There are massive power outages across the region and people are losing their minds over gasoline and food. This is, by far, the worse hurricane situation since Andrew in 1992, which of course devastated the greater HOMESTEAD section of MIAMI," recalled MARINO.
"FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT had a main conduit line damaged and it will be weeks before the power is fully restored to the region. I will be out of the loop during this time in regards to anything records related. I would ask the record community for patience and prayers for life to get back to normal as soon as we can."
