TEGNA Revenue, Income Rise In First Quarter

While it awaits approval and closing of its acquisition by STANDARD GENERAL, TEGNA is reporting that its first quarter revenue rose 6% year-over-year to $774 million, up 13% over the same quarter in the pre-pandemic early months of 2020. Subscription revenue increased 1% to $392 million, with advertising and marketing services revenue also up 10% to $354 million, aided by its NBC affiliates carrying the SUPER BOWL and OLYMPICS. Net income rose from $113 million to $134 million.
The numbers for the company's radio properties, Sports WBNS-F (97.1 THE FAN) and Sports WBNS-A (ESPN 1460)/COLUMBUS, OH, are not disclosed in TEGNA's financial releases.
