The PULITZER PRIZE for Audio Reporting has been awarded to the staffs of FUTURO MEDIA and PRX for "SUAVE," while composer RAVEN CHACON was awarded the prize for Music for "VOICELESS MASS."
"SUAVE," a seven-episode podcast from Exec. Producer MARIA HINOJOSA and host/producer MAGGIE FRELENG, told the story of a PHILADELPHIA man, DAVID LUIS "SUAVE" GONZALEZ, who was sentenced to life in prison without parole for a crime committed when he was 17 and his reentry into society after being released, and investigated the issue of juvenile lifers.
CHACON, a Navajo composer of chamber music, composed "VOICELESS MASS," a piece for pipe organ and large ensemble, by commission from MILWAUKEE's nonprofit PRESENT MUSIC.
