HOUSE OF BLUES LAS VEGAS and LIVE NATION celebrated CARLOS SANTANA's milestone tenth anniversary of his residency, "An Intimate Evening With SANTANA: Greatest Hits Live," in the world-renowned music hall.
During the press conference, SANTANA received a special piece of artwork created by local artist JUSTIN LEPPER to commemorate the event. Also on hand for the event, STEVE GOLD from PEACE OF STAGE, who presented CARLOS and the HOUSE OF BLUES with a piece of the original WOODSTOCK stage in honor of SANTANA, WOODSTOCK co-founder MICHAEL LANG, who recently passed, and the late BILL GRAHAM, who booked SANTANA at the historic festival. The stage piece will find its home amongst the walls of the music venue where other pieces of art and memorabilia reside. SANTANA manager MICHAEL VRIONIS officially announced a multi-year extension of the residency, and County Commissioner JUSTIN JONES awarded SANTANA with the LAS VEGAS ICON AWARD. Guests then enjoyed a reception before a musical surprise – a sneak peek at the SANTANA sound check.
UNIVERSAL TONE CEO VRIONIS stated, “Today, it is with great pleasure that we make two announcements. The first, since MAY 2012, with the sale of tickets, the SANTANA residency has been responsible for a donation of more than $230,000 to benefit both the MILAGRO FOUNDATION and to HOUSE OF BLUES' MUSIC FORWARD FOUNDATION. The second announcement is that we have signed a multi-year extension so that CARLOS can keep rockin’ at the HOUSE OF BLUES.”
