Former KFOR-A-KFRX/LINCOLN, NE VP/GM, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS Board Chair, RADIO ADVERTISING BUREAU Chairman, and NEBRASKA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION Pres. DICK CHAPIN died WEDNESDAY (1/4) in LINCOLN at 99.
CHAPIN joined KFOR as an AE in 1953 and became GSM that year and GM in 1954. He was upped to VP of station owner STUART INVESTMENT CO. in 1958, growing the company with the purchase of stations in KANSAS, IOWA, NEBRASKA, and MISSOURI. CHAPIN stayed aboard after the radio stations were acquired by DKM BROADCASTING in 1985, then started his own brokerage company and owning KSYZ/GRAND ISLAND, NE in 1989-99.
CHAPIN was honored with the NAB's Distinguished Service Award in 1974.
